Answers to the questions we hear most often about Neon Cursor. Can't find what you need? Visit the Help Center or reach us through the Contact page.
Is Neon Cursor free?
Yes. Browsing, downloading, and using cursors is completely free, and so is the browser extension. There is nothing to buy and no account required.
Is Neon Cursor safe to use?
Yes. The extension only draws your chosen cursor on the pages you visit — it does not read page content, track your history, or collect personal data. You can read the full explanation in Are Custom Cursors Safe? and our Privacy Policy.
Which browsers does the extension work in?
It works in Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera. Install it once from the Chrome Web Store and it runs the same way in all of them.
How do I change my cursor in the browser?
Install the free extension, pick a design on our site, and click Add. Full steps are in How to Change Your Mouse Cursor in Chrome.
Can I use a custom cursor everywhere in Windows, not just my browser?
Yes. Download the .cur or .ani file for a design and set it as your system pointer. See How to Change Your Cursor on Windows 10 and 11.
Why isn't my cursor showing up?
Usually you just need to refresh the tab. Some pages — like browser settings, the web store, and the new-tab page — block all extensions, so cursors won't appear there. See the Troubleshooting Guide for more.
How do I remove or reset my cursor?
Switch to another design, turn the extension off, or choose the Windows Default scheme for a system cursor. Step-by-step help is in How to Remove or Reset Your Custom Cursor.
Can I make my own cursor?
Yes. Upload your own image with the Cursor Creator or build a pair in the Constructor. Tips are in How to Make Your Own Custom Cursor.
What's the difference between a cursor and a pointer?
The cursor is your everyday arrow; the pointer is the shape it changes into over a clickable link. Most of our sets include both. More detail in Cursor vs Pointer.
Do you have animated cursors?
Yes, plenty. We offer both animated and static designs. To decide which suits you, read Animated vs Static Cursors.
Can I use these cursors on Roblox?
Many designs include Roblox-ready files. See How to Get a Custom Cursor on Roblox for both the player and developer methods.
What file formats do you provide?
Depending on the design, you can get .cur and .ani files for Windows, .png images, and Roblox-ready files. The download menu on each cursor page shows exactly what's available.
Do animated cursors slow down my computer?
On modern hardware the effect is negligible. On very old computers, a static cursor is lighter — and switching is instant if you ever notice any lag.
Does it work on Mac?
The browser extension works in Chromium browsers on macOS as well. The downloadable .cur and .ani pointer files, however, are made for Windows, since macOS handles system cursors differently.
