Going back to your normal cursor is easy, whether you set one in your browser with the extension or installed one system-wide on Windows. Here's how to reset or remove it in each case.
In your browser (Neon Cursor extension)
You have a few options, from quickest to most complete:
- Switch to another design — simply pick a different cursor on neoncursor.com and click Add. Your new choice replaces the old one everywhere.
- Turn the extension off — open your browser's Extensions menu, find Neon Cursor, and toggle it off. Your default cursor returns immediately (refresh any open tab to see it).
- Remove it completely — in the Extensions menu, choose Remove next to Neon Cursor. This uninstalls the extension entirely.
After turning the extension off or removing it, pages that were already open may need a single refresh to show the standard cursor again.
On Windows (system cursor)
If you installed a downloaded .cur or .ani file as your system pointer, reset it like this:
- Open Settings and go to Bluetooth & devices > Mouse (Windows 11) or Devices > Mouse (Windows 10).
- Click Additional mouse settings, then open the Pointers tab.
- In the Scheme dropdown, choose Windows Default (system scheme).
- Click Apply, then OK.
Your original Windows pointers are restored. If you saved your custom set as a named scheme earlier, you can always switch back to it from the same dropdown.
Still seeing the old cursor?
If a cursor lingers after resetting, refresh the page or restart the browser. For anything stubborn, see Cursor Not Showing? Troubleshooting Guide, which also covers cursors that appear when they shouldn't.
